I am struggling with my mom now. We just moved her to a Board and Care and I guess I sympathize with her but try like heck to empathize. There is a difference. It is important. glad you and Russel made it to the great Golden Gate Bridge. It's also a dream of mine to sail under it as an adult. I did it as a teenager when we delivered a boat from Hawaii, but that was so long ago and it was foggy when we arrived. I know you're hanging in there. Your positive attitude always inspires me. WEmapthy is also something that can drain a person, because we know so well what the other is going through. Sometimes sympathy is a good thing, the shallows of fellow-feeling can keep us from drowning. Anyway this is all to your point about writing. I often cry when I read, and sometimes, I cry when writing. A couple of days ago, I had a jag at the Hallmark Card section of the drug store, which I KNEW was not about the birthday girl, but my empathy had found an outlet, and it was a s good as any movie for loosening the dam.
